Our Prediction:

Brisbane Broncos Women will win

Brisbane Broncos Women – St George Women Match Prediction | 06-10-2019 01:05

David Fifita will start in the second row after Alex Glenn (calf) was ruled out on Saturday. Sam Tagataese and Gehamat Shibasaki were omitted an hour before kick-off. Andrew McCullough (concussion) returns at hooker, allowing Josh McGuire to revert to lock. Broncos: In a late change, Joe Ofahengaue will start at prop, with Matt Lodge dropping back to the bench.

George will need to weather the early onslaught from the Broncos crowd and forward pack otherwise they risk losing the game in the early stages, one feels the longer the Dragons can stay in the contest the better their chances are of winning. St. With a big crowd expected for Sam Thaidays last ever game at Suncorp Stadium the Broncos will be full of energy in the opening stages.

In stark contrast to their opponents this week, St George-Illawarra are in a form slump and seem to be a shadow of the side that was tearing through their competition in the early parts of the season. But its a new competition starting this week so maybe the smell of finals football will help the Dragons find their fire once again. Despite beating Newcastle on the weekend the Dragons are still searching for that formula that had them running like a well oiled machine during the early rounds, their attack seems void of ideas and their forwards have lost their bite.

Many experts believe Brisbane are the form team in the competition and could be a serious premiership threat. After disappointing losses to the Bulldogs and Cowboys, Brisbane rebounded to beat competition favourites the Rabbitohs and Roosters before hammering Manly in their final game. The Broncos are in irresistible form going into the finals with super coach Wayne Bennetts future uncertain. The seven time premiership winner has been able to use all the negative press surrounding the club to galvanise the playing group.

THE IMPORTANT DETAILS

The game is best remembered by Hunt streaking away for a try after he took an intercept off a Matt Lodge pass, the former Broncos number seven started the season on fire much like the rest of his team mates as the Dragons set the early rounds alight. We have to go back to the opening game of the season for when these sides last clashed and it was the Dragons led by former Bronco Bent Hunt who got the spoils on that occasion.

Haas spent the first part of this season suspended but since hes been back in the team he is showing us that the hype is real. Martin Taupau has been his usual self so far with running over people, busting tackles and throwing offloads. By all reports he is up there with the fittest players at the club and Seibold even has the option of playing him for the full 80 minutes, which is incredible for a front rower. Hugely talented and possessing similar barnstorming skills as Taupau, perhaps the most impressive part of this young guy is his massive motor. He comes up this week against another beast in Payne Haas.

Thats more drama that Brisbane didnt need and now we see Jake Turpin starting at hooker to cover Macca as well as some reshuffling to their forwards as well as Anthony Seibold tries to find out what he needs to do to get away from the bottom four. Big news out of Brisbane this week with Andrew McCullough going down with a suspected MCL injury and James Roberts out of the team as well.

They are down on key troops but still stringing wins together and coming off a good home victory against the Bulldogs. Many of us (myself included) wrote Manly off for this season after seeing their roster, however they have are firmly in the top eight a third of the way through the season with five wins from eight with wins over heavyweights Souths and Canberra.

Lock Jack De Belin has been named despite sporting a moonboot on an injured ankle or foot on Tuesday. Dragons: The Dragons will start the match 1-17, with Jason Nightingale and Hame Sele dropped from the squad an hour before the game time. Captain Gareth Widdop (elbow) returns at five-eighth, bumping Kurt Mann to the bench and Jai Field out of the squad, in the only listed change from last week.

Facing up against the experience of Brisbane Broncos Darius Boyd in the first round will raise an early challenge for the 22-year-old.For Dufty, this head-to-head contest between youth and experience will determine how he compares to one of the best in the game. Dragons fullback Matthew Dufty has shown promising potential and has gathered plenty of hype coming into the season.

When McCullough went down injured last year, I wrote the Broncos wouldnt win the premiership from that moment forward. Most shared my view of things, and while he hasnt been quite as dominant this year, he has still been very good, especially in the last month or so, coming good with consistency alongside the rest of the Broncos side.

But again like his team mates Hunts form has slumped and he seems void of confidence and ideas, which has fans and critics alike questioning his ability to handle the pressure situations. Hunt couldnt ask for a better opportunity to prove his critics wrong up against his old side, in front of his old fans in an elimination finals match. The stage is set for Hunt to either buckle under the pressure or rise to occasion and prove the doubters wrong.

Ben Hunt has been the man under the microscope at the Dragons and his showdown with Kodi Nikorima will be critical. Key match-up: The forward battle will be immense as the big men look to lay a platform for the playmakers. Nikorima is growing in confidence every week whereas Hunt's confidence has been eaten away during the past six weeks.
