England – Australia Match Prediction | 13-09-2019 06:00

Joe Root is another set to play on his home ground and the England captain is due a big innings. Alongside Root, Rory Burns will be key for England he has been in good form at the top of the order. With Steve Smith out for Australia, their key man could be David Warner, though Usman Khawaja is in slightly better form.

They had Australia six down in the final session when the match ended in a draw. With ICC World Test Championship points up for grabs, as well as the Ashes of course, this is a key match for the hosts. The English will have taken plenty of heart from the second test, which suffered as a result of the rain.

Roy in particular has struggled up the order, and if he does play this could well be his last chance to prove his worth as a test-match opener. Currans bowling may swing the balance his way, with neither Denly nor Roy in good batting form. The Lancashire bowler will play second XI cricket this week and will definitely not feature at Headingley. Instead, England must decide between Joe Denly, Jason Roy and Sam Curran. England have named an unchanged squad for the third test, with James Anderson still being assessed after his calf injury.

Weather Report for This Match

Beating England at this point mustve surely given them the much-needed confidence for the forthcoming matches. England has been down because two of their players are injured and their batting order has taken a hit. Sadly, he has been proved wrong. One of the other reasons for the defeat was the fact that the Sri Lankans did play magnificently. There were no expectations from them, and the team was in need of a morale boost. However, Eon Morgan, the English skipper assured fans that the injuries were not going to be in the way of their performance.

They won all five games against Australia at home last summer, including smashing their own world record when they posted 483/6 at Trent Bridge. Australia beat England in one of the warm-up matches for this tournament, but in official ODIs England have been dominant in this fixture recently. It followed a 4-1 series win in Australia in their previous series against their old enemy too.

Elsewhere, Australia have assured themselves of a spot in the semi-final after becoming the first side to reach the stage after getting the better of Bangladesh the last time around. The 48 run win for them now sees them having constructed a three match winning spree, one which has seen them pp England to earn the status of one of the favourites for the glistening trophy.

They also performed well in their previous match against Sri Lanka. Chris Woakes bowled five overs and leaked 22 runs and got one wicket. Mark Wood was just outstanding with the bowl as he got three wickets in his eight overs bowled while he leaked 40 runs. He also got three wickets in ten overs against 52 runs. Jofra Archer also performed well with the ball. Adil Rashid bowled ten overs and leaked 45 runs while he got two wickets. They were charged for 232 runs in their fifty overs. Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali remained wicketless in that match. The bowling unit of England team had been good in all matches of this World Cup.

The 2019 ICC World Cup started with the hosts, England taking on South Africa. However, one of the biggest upsets this season came when England lost to Sri Lanka in the 27th match of the ICC World Cup 2019. Australia too tasted their first defeat in this edition of the World Cup against India. England has been up against reasonable teams, and theyve managed to beat them too. The hosts managed to beat the South Africans and set a good pace for future games.

The side go into every match with a one track gameplan, looking to bat first and put the runs on the board with no strategy in place while chasing. Still to play Australia, New Zealand and India and needed to win atleast the one match and wishing that other results swing their way, the home side no longer look the invincible everyone was billing them to be.
