Monaco will win

Monaco – Nice Match Prediction | 25-09-2019 15:00

Monacos real problem has been with an inconsistency in quality with how they defend and attack. Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has seen nothing but criticism since returning to the principality and its easy to see why as his side are still to win in the league this campaign.

It has been a pretty torrid season for Monaco this year but they will want to end on a high. OGC Nice vs AS Monaco predictions for this Ligue 1 clash as the away side desperately aim for three points that would guarantee them a place in next years competition. You should bear in mind that Monaco are on a four-game winless run on the road in the French top flight. Les Aiglons, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a heavy 3-0 loss to Saint-Etienne and seeing that they are eager to overtake Nimes in seventh place in the standings, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts.

They have scored the most number of goals in the league, except for the likes of Lyon, Angers, and of course PSG, and against the weakest defense in the tournament, the away handicap of the day should not matter much. Compounding their problems is the arrival of Nice, who have lost just twice in the competition so far this run, and won the rest of the fixtures in style.

They have won six and lost just one of their last nine matches at the Allianz Riviera, with six clean sheets along the way highlighting how dominant they have been in defence this season. Patrick Vieira has enjoyed a rather fruitful first season in France, with his team currently sitting eighth with the possibility of seventh place if the cards fall their way on the last day of the season. Much of his teams success has been down to the incredible home record that his side have amassed. They havent conceded twice at home in the league since September and that should continue against Monaco.

Scores Vs Opponents

A win over Amiens saw Monaco avoid relegation to the Ligue 1. The Portuguese tactician is likely to mix the squad against les Aiglons, which is probably the main reason why away win should not be considered. The nightmare is finally over and coach Leonardo Jardim can breathe easier ahead of the trip to Nice. Les Rouges et Blancs are not regarded as good travelers and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Nices party at Allianz Riviera.

Moreover, Patrick Vieiras men have been unbeaten in the last four h2h encounters and found the back of the net in the prior five such battles. Finally, the hosts of the day have conceded the most number of goals at the moment in the competition, whereas their counterparts have scored the most barring some of the best offenses in Ligue 1, which includes the likes of PSG.

Nice havent been the biggest scorers this season with nine goals in their last eleven games but with them holding the third best defensive record in the league, it is clear where Vieiras focus lies with this side. Nice did lose at the weekend though with Saint-tienne beating them 3-0, which was an extremely out-of-sorts performance from les Aiglons.

Monaco vs Nice Match Preview

Speaking of the French Cup, les Aiglons won their third Coupe de France title in 1997. OGC Nice play their home games in red and black shirts and black shorts, while the colour of their away kits is white. Allianz Riviera has been the home ground of the club since September, 2013 and it has to be noted that the construction of the venue cost 250 million. OGC Nice won their first Ligue 1 trophy back in 1951 and eight years later they clinched their fourth and last domestic title.

The former have been through the mill with two managerial changes and a long string of injuries seeing them almost relegated but a win last week over Amiens (2-0) has pretty much guaranteed their safety. This Derby de la Cte dAzur will round off the season for both sides but it has been a campaign of differing fortunes for Monaco and Nice.

Les Monegasques have struggled defensively and weve seen them concede eight goals as they shared the spoils with Nimes (2-2), Strasbourg (2-2), and saw a thriller 3-4 loss to Marseille. They have held Reims to a goalless draw most recently and with potential returns for both Slimani and Ben Yedder, theyll surely hope for a more dangerous attacking line as well.

Monaco vs Nice Prediction & Match Preview

Nice have won one and drawn two of their last three matches with Monaco and with the hosts winning just one of their last eight home matches, were backing the visitors to get the win here.

Were also going to back Nice to win 1-0 as a victory could clinch them 7th spot so they will be desperate for three points. Monaco have also scored under 1.5 goals in four of their last five away games so were backing this market to win here. Monaco have been attacking well in recent weeks but with Nices incredible home record were going to back the away side to score under 1.5 goals as les Aiglons havent conceded that at the Allianz Riviera since October.
