Our Prediction:

Walsh Island will win

Walsh Island – Ballycumber Match Prediction | 13-09-2019 15:00

This may suggest that Ballycumber will start better while Clara spend some time becoming accustomed to the pace of the game, but the Magpies should have too much class here and if Reynolds, Deehan and O"Hara get going, they have too much firepower for Ballycumber to handle. Clara come into this on the back of a facile win over St Rynagh"s while Ballycumber had to work a lot harder to secure their win over Erin Rovers.

Erin Rovers are competitive and committed team, but they don"t score freely, and if they can"t shake Rynagh"s loose early on, the men in hoops will grow in confidence. Players like Gary Mahon, Gary O"Connor and Stephen Wynne are well able to take a score, while if either of the Rafferty brothers can put the shackles on Alan Lynam, Rovers will find scores very hard to come by. Rynagh"s could surprise a lot of people in this game, though Rovers" fighting spirit may see them sneak the draw that they need to stay in the senior ranks.

Bibliography[edit]

Tullamore too have been quite competitive at this level and their narrow win over Kilclonfert back in May gives them the whip hand, though their most recent performance was very discouraging. Ballyfore are still struggling to deal with the loss of Conor Evans, but if they can retain their belief and their focus, they have enough ability to sneak a tight game here. Ballyfore come into this game on the back of two defeats, but any kind of win here combined with a heavy defeat for Kilclonfert against Walsh Island would see the Edenderry parish club advance to the knockout stages.

The turning point of the game came midway through the half when in the space of 5 mins St Rynaghs got clear of the Raheen inside line twice to dispatch 2 goals. Two more points followed for St Rynaghs to Raheens one before the end of the half and so at the break St Rynaghs led 2-04 to 0-03. St Rynaghs increased their lead early in the second half with another 3 points to Raheens 2. Raheens 2013 playing season finally got underway last Saturday afternoon as the Intermediate Footballers opened their Div 2 League campaign against St Rynaghs in Cloghan but there was no joy for Raheen as St Rynaghs came out on top to claim the win on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-07. RAHEEN: Mark Byrne, Cathal Maher, Shane Carroll, Tommy Spollen, Brian Corcoran, Brian Kehoe, Mick McMenamin, Padraig Bracken (0-02), Declan Byrne, Mikey Keogh, Willie Stynes (0-02), Brian Crombie (0-01), Liam Gorman (1-00), John Crombie, Richie Reynolds (0-01). SUBS: Paddy Rigney (for Mikey Keogh), Niall Dempsey (0-01) (for John Crombie), Eoghan Bolton (for Richie Reynolds). Then on 14 mins Raheen gave themselves hope when a set of short passes through the centre saw the ball worked into the square where Liam Gorman got the final touch to crack in a goal but this would be as close as they would get with both sides adding just 2 more points apiece in the remaining mins of the game. The early stages were evenly contested and after 10 mins both sides had registered 2 points apiece.

However, a quick look at some of the names available to Rhode - the McNamees, the Sullivans, the Darbys, Paschal Kelleghan, Roy Malone - and it"s hard to see a performance as poor as they put in against Shannonbridge being repeated. Ferbane have rediscovered their pride and won"t concede an inch, but Rhode are still the class act in Offaly and should prove that once again on Sunday afternoon. If both sides repeated their performance from last Sunday week, there would be every chance that Ferbane would get the four-point win that they need to guarantee their progression into the next round.
